HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Two Hartford Fire Department lieutenants got into a fight on the job Saturday morning, police say.

According to police, the fight happened at the scene of a fire that broke out on Chatham Street late in the morning. A source says one firefighter was apparently put in a headlock while still wearing their gear.

“The women and men of this department are performing a very technical and dangerous job during the most difficult and stressful of times,” said Hartford fire chief Carlos Huertas in a statement. “Today’s incident only proves that our brave firefighters are human. Rest assure, we will examine this incident and take appropriate action to ensure public safety.”

Police say neither lieutenant was injured and that they do not want to press charges against each other.
