One dead in serious crash in Enfield

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– One person died in a crash on Sunday.

According to state police, a van driving south on I-91 struck a metal beam on the right side of the highway. The van then began to flip, causing the three people inside the van to be ejected onto the roadway.

Police say the driver suffered massive trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity hasn’t been released by police. The two passengers were taken to area hospitals for serious injuries. Their conditions aren’t known at this time.

The roadway was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper First Class Christopher Tanner at 860-534-1070 ext 6057.
