PD: man shoplifts, pushes security officer at Hamden Wal-Mart

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A New Haven man was arrested for shoplifting then pushing a security officer at a Hamden Wal-Mart.

On Saturday, police responded to the Wal-Mart on a report of shoplifting and a physical altercation. Officers arrested the suspect, 52-year-old Cornelius Green, running towards Dixwell Avenue with the stolen item.

Later an investigation revealed that Green took the alarm clock from the shelf then returned it with a receipt he had in his pocket. A security officer then approached him but Green pushed the officer backwards and fled the store.

Green was charged with robbery, larceny, possession of shoplifting device and breach of peace. He was held on $5,000 bond.
