(WTNH)– A New York teen has made millions of dollars trading stocks during lunch time at Stuyvesant High School.
According to New York magazine, 17-year-old Mohammed Islam is worth $72 million.
Islam and two of his friends hope to start a hedge fund in June after Islam turns 18 and is able to get a broker-dealer license. The three hope to make a billion dollars while they are in college next year. Islam told the magazine it’s not about just the money. The three hope to create a brotherhood who are connected and have influence, he said.
However, the teen did already buy himself a BMW even though he doesn’t have a license, and a Manhattan apartment, even though his parents won’t let him move out yet.
Islam began dabbling in penny stocks at age 9.
