TV station: 5 dead in shootings near Philadelphia

SOUDERTON, Pa. (AP) — Police are surrounding a home outside Philadelphia where a suspect is believed to have barricaded himself after shootings at multiple homes.

Police tell WPVI-TV  the man is suspected of killing a five people Monday morning at three different homes northwest of Philadelphia.

The television station reports the man is holed up in a Souderton home where police say two people were killed. Police say the man is also suspected of killing a woman in Harleysville and two people in Lansdale.

Officials are referring questions to the Montgomery County district attorney’s office, which did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.

The Souderton Area School District, citing police activity in Souderton and Harleysville, has ordered students and teachers to shelter in place until further notice.
