ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police are investigating what caused an accident that killed one person and severely injured two others on Interstate 91 Tuesday night.
Just before 8:00 p.m., Troopers responded to the area of I-91 southbound near exit 49 in Enfield on a report of an accident. According to police, a 2002 Honda Accord with Massachusetts plates had struck a guardrail on the right side of the highway and overturned, ejecting the car’s occupants.
State police have identified the driver as Vitally Fodor, of Westfield MA. Troopers said Fodor suffered massive trauma from the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the passengers, Alexander Banari, of Bloomfield NJ, suffered serious injuries. Banari was taken to Bay State Medical Hospital in Springfield MA for treatment.
The other passenger, Yurly Sivolobov, of New Britain, was taken to Hartford Hospital. Sivolobov has since been treated and released.
State police are continuing their investigation. Troopers are asking any witnesses or people with any information that could help in the investigation to call Trooper Christopher Tanner at Troop H at 860-534-1070 extension 6057.
