Two arrested in East Hartford bank robbery

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– East Hartford police have arrested two men who they say robbed a bank Wednesday.

Police say the Wells Fargo at 18 Main Street was robbed by two armed men shortly before noon.

Anthony Shipman and Jason Vaughn were both spotted a short time later, police say. The suspects led police on a foot chase, and Vaughn then attempted to carjack a woman on Ensign Street, according to police.

A .32-caliber revolver and a .22-caliber handgun involved in the robbery were seized, police say. They also say they seized a stolen Nissan Maxima used in the incident.

Shipman, 30, is charged with first-degree robbery, carrying a weapon as a convicted felon, second-degree larceny, third-degree larceny, first-degree threatening, and other crimes.

Vaughn, 30, is charged with first-degree robbery, carrying a weapon as a convicted felon, criminal attempt to commit carjacking, second-degree larceny, third-degree larceny, and first-degree threatening, among other crimes.
