Glastonbury police arrest Home Depot Thief

East Hartford man busted for trying to steal merchandise from Glastonbury Home Depot.

GLASTONBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — An East Hartford man is facing charges after police say he tried to steal a drill combo kit from the Glastonbury Home Depot.

Police say 60-year-old John Sparagna of 142 Adelaide Street, had to be detained by citizen bystanders at the Home Depot on 115 Putnam Blvd., after police say he got in a physical altercation with one of the employees who was trying to stop in from stealing the merchandise.

Sparagna is charged with second degree robbery, as well as second degree breach of peace. He is being held on $30,000 bond.

The employee suffered a minor injury, but is expected to be OK.
