ORANGE, Conn. (WTNH) — Orange Police have arrested a 30 year-old woman for sleeping while her child was outside its home Friday morning.
According to police, officers responded to a report of an unattended child in pajamas wandering around the area of New Haven Ave and Dogburn Lane at 11a.m. Dispatch advised to responding officers that a passerby was standing with the child.
Officers located the 3 year-old and confirmed that the child was not in custody of a parent. Investigation lead to police going door to door in the area, and determined that the child had been staying at a home on Spring Street.
Once police located the mother, who was asleep and unaware the child had left the home, they arrested her. The mother has been identified as Regina Yankee-Siegel, also known as “Regina LaRocca” of West Haven, according to police.
Yankee-Siegel was charged with one count each of Risk of Injury to a Minor and Interfering with an Officer. Yankee-Siegel posted a $5,000 bond and was given a court date of December 22, 2014 in Derby Superior Court.
