Operation ELF treats military families to holiday party

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– Some Connecticut military families were treated to a special holiday party at the Hartford Armory Friday night.

It’s all part of a program called Operation Embracing Lonely Families, or ELF for short. The program is put on with the help of the Connecticut National Guard.

The kids who attended were all part of families of deployed or soon-to-be deployed service members. They got to eat fun foods, listen to music, and play on some huge bouncy houses.

“We want the kids to know, along with their families, that there’s a place that they can go to that’s going to bring them together with others who share the same experience of being in a military family,” said organizer Kim Hoffman.

This is the 13th year Operation ELF has taken place.
