Victim in serious condition after Willimantic stabbing

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH)– Willimantic police have one person in custody after a stabbing Friday afternoon.

Police say 20-year-old Kenneth Vega stabbed a man around 1:30 p.m. They say they found a victim with a stab wound in front of 126 Church Street. According to police, that victim was taken to Windham Hospital, then transported to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar. The victim underwent emergency surgery at Hartford Hospital and is listed in serious condition, police say.

Vega, who lives at 126 Church Street, is charged with first-degree assault, and breach of peace. He is being held on $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court Monday.
