HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — State police say a trooper’s cruiser was struck in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 91 northbound in Hartford.

Authorities say the trooper was in his cruiser during a traffic stop Friday evening when the police car was struck by a car that was involved in an accident with other cars between exits 32 and 33.

The trooper, who wasn’t immediately identified, was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but officials say he’s expected to be OK.

State police haven’t released information on any other injuries or what caused the accident.

The accident happened at about 5 p.m. The state Department of Transportation reports that the three right lanes are closed, and the accident scene will be cleared in less than three hours.
