Police: Man killed after threatening video, attempting to run down officers

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) — Police in suburban Philadelphia say a man who had posted an online video threatening to kill police and FBI agents has been shot dead by five officers after he tried to use his car to run them down.

The shooting happened in Upper Darby. Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says the officers had a warrant and were seeking to arrest the man, who hasn’t been identified. Police also haven’t said if he was armed.

Chitwood says the man, who had been followed from his home in another nearby town, was ordered out his car but reversed, slamming into a police vehicle and appeared ready to accelerate. Chitwood says the officers feared for their lives and then in his words — “did what they had to do.”

The shooting comes a little more after a week after a man ambushed two New York City police officers. Police say he had made online threats. His family says he had a history of mental problems
