Route 6 in Columbia reopened after house fire

COLUMBIA, Conn. (WTNH)– Crews from multiple fire departments worked to put out a house fire in Columbia Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the fire broke out at 45 Willimantic Road around 3:10 p.m. They say no one was home when the fire started and no was injured. The scene was cleared around 7:30 p.m., according to officials.

The fire closed Willimantic Road (Route 6) at Whitney Road while crews put water on it.

Mutual aid from Willimantic, UConn, Andover, Coventry, Bolton, Lebanon, and Marlborough was called to the scene.
