HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– Hamden police say a man who was beaten and robbed at his home after he allegedly arranged to meet a woman he encountered online is now facing charges.
Kevin Felix-Melendez, 30, turned himself in Monday afternoon after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He allegedly arranged to meet a woman at his Mix Avenue home in October, but police say once inside, the woman or her female friend unlocked the front door, allowing two men to enter. Police say the men entered Felix-Melendez’s bedroom while he, the woman, and her friend were inside, and one of the men assaulted him with a tire iron, injuring his back, nose, and finger.
Police say several items were stolen from the apartment, including electronics.
Felix-Melendez is charged with second-degree assault and patronizing a prostitute. He was held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 12.
Both females and one of the men they allowed inside have been arrested.
