Eighteen-year-old University of Connecticut student Tyler McKenzie of East Lyme was arraigned on threatening and breach of peace charges Friday in New London Superior Court. He posted $25,000 bail.

Police arrested McKenzie Wednesday, saying he wrote on the social media site Yik Yak that he had been bullied and warned East Lyme to prepare for a “hail of bullets.”

Police say McKenzie had no weapons and told them he had no plans to carry out the threat.

McKenzie will be allowed to return to UConn when classes resume Jan. 20. UConn officials wouldn’t say if actions will be taken against McKenzie.
