HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is tapping a second Bridgeport legislator for a new job.

The Democratic governor announced Friday that he’s nominating state Rep. Auden Grogins to the state Superior Court. An attorney with 24 years of experience, Grogins was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2008.

Malloy recently announced he was nominating Bridgeport Sen. Andres Ayala as the new Department of Motor Vehicles commissioner. His district includes Bridgeport and Stratford.

Malloy called Grogins “a dedicated public servant who cares deeply about her community” and has earned the respect of her colleagues in Bridgeport and Hartford.

Grogins, who holds a law degree from Quinnipiac University, will not take the oath of office for her House seat on Thursday.

Special elections are needed to fill both seats.
