Norwich home catches fire

NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH)– Norwich firefighters responded to a house fire on School Street Friday afternoon.

The Norwich Fire Department says they were called to 76 School Street around 1 p.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy fire showing from the front of the house, according to fire officials. They say firefighters worked aggressively to prevent further damage to the home.

Officials say everyone was out of the house by the time they arrived. The Red Cross says they’re helping two families totaling six people, five adults and one child, affected by the fire.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
