New Haven homicide rates down

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New statistics are out and it’s positive news for New Haven. The number of homicides in the Elm City were down for 2014.

2014 saw one of the lowest homicide counts for the city in the past decade. The New Haven Register reports, New Haven had thirteen murders last year, which is down from twenty the previous year.

New Haven is also seeing a decline in the number of shootings. 2014 had 5 fewer shootings than previous years. It’s also reported there were nearly fifty fewer reports of shots fired last year.
