Waterbury man arrested after fleeing police

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) – A Waterbury man faces charges following a police pursuit stemming from a domestic violence call Sunday night.

At 10 p.m., police responded to a convenience store on Washington Avenue on a domestic dispute call in which a woman was reportedly pistol whipped.

Police received a description of the vehicle and driver and pulled over a vehicle on Coleman Street. The vehicle initially stopped and officers approached the car, which was driven by a black male wearing a green camouflage jacket. As officers approached, the driver sped off.

Officers followed the vehicle on Route 8/25 and onto Interstate 95 southbound. The vehicle exited the highway at exit 16 in Norwalk. At that time, Norwalk police assisted in stopping the vehicle.

The suspect, later identified as Tracey Edwards, 41, of 51 Meadowlark Drive, Waterbury, fled the car after a motor vehicle accident and was apprehended a short time later by Norwalk officers.

He was charged by Bridgeport police with reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit and operating with a suspended license. He faces additional charges in Norwalk.
