Actress Cameron Diaz marries musician in surprise ceremony

(WTNH)– Movie star Cameron Diaz is officially married after tying the knot with musician Benji Madden in a surprise ceremony Monday night.

Their rep confirmed to People magazine that the two were married in an intimate ceremony at their Los Angeles home.  The couple released a statement saying “we couldn’t be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends.”

The 42-year-old actress and the 35-year-old Good Charlotte singer have been dating since May and got engaged just before Christmas. The pair was introduced by reality TV star Nicole Ritchie, who is married to Madden’s brother and fellow Good Charlotte member Joel Madden. Their son Sparrow even acted as ring bearer in the ceremony.

Other celebrities in attendance included Drew Barrymore, who acted as a bridesmaid, as well as Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow.  There were reportedly 90-plus guests at the wedding which took place inside the home, while the reception was held under a huge tent.

Diaz  previously dated Justin Timberlake, while Madden once dated Paris Hilton.
