Malloy among governors meeting with Obama, Biden

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will be part of a group of governors meeting with the president and vice president in Washington, D.C.

The Democrat is scheduled to Tuesday to attend the Third Annual Executive Committee Meeting. The event was organized by the National Governors Association.

Each governor who serves on NGA’s nine-member executive committee was invited to attend. The group has authority over issues involving federalism, homeland security, the federal budget and federal tax policy.

The meeting will be closed to the media.

Malloy was expected to return to Connecticut on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday, he will take the oath of office for this second term as governor. Wednesday will also mark the opening day of the General Assembly.
