Three busted for passing phony bills

WESTPORT,Conn. (WTNH)- Westport police have nabbed three people for using a bogus one hundred dollar bill at the Stop and Shop on Post Road East on Monday night.

A sharp-eyed store worker noticed something wrong with the bill and then called the police. Police say after the trio left the store they got in a car and headed towards a Walgreen’s store down the street and made a purchase with a counterfeit bill. According to police, when they confronted the suspects, they found a large number of bogus bills inside of their car.

Police arrested 27 year old Anthony Canales of the Bronx, 24 year old Leslie Canales of the Bronx and 22 year old Jada Robles of Newark, New Jersey on charges that include forgery, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny. All three are being held on 50 thousand dollars bond, in legitimate U-S currency.
