Tail section of AirAsia Flight 8501 found

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The tail section of AirAsia Flight 8501 has been recovered from the Java Sea. The Indonesian search and rescue operation confirmed the news Wednesday morning.

This is an important find for the recovery process, as the vital flight recorders are in that portion of the plane. Those black boxes could help reveal information about the last moments of the flight.

162 people were on board AirAsia Flight 8501 when it crashed into the Java Sea just over a week ago. So far about 40 bodies have been recovered.
