Bridgeport man arrested for Monroe burglary

MONROE, Conn. (WTNH) — Monroe police have arrested a Bridgeport man accused of breaking into a home and stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

45-year-old Severo Santiago is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief.

Police say a home owner on Far Horizon Drive called police after coming home to find the back door to his home broken in and thousands of dollars wroth of jewelry missing from an upstairs bedroom.

Santiago was taken into custody on Thursday and held on $100,000 bond.

Monroe police said he is also a suspect in other burglaries throughout the Bridgeport regional area.
