Watertown, CT (WTNH)- The sea of white stuff has plow drivers busy on the first real snow day. Snow plow driver, Paul Pronovost said, “we’ve got to go out early enough. We deal with the traffic and we gotta do parking lots and stuff if people drive like they are supposed to it will be fine.”

Some drivers who had a close call are using caution crusing around in the snow and slush. Loue Etemi told NEWS8, “I almost got into an accident a couple of times just driving. Drive very careful. Driving up a hill who ever has a front wheel drive they need a 4×4.”

Experienced snow plow driver, Kevin Green said, “if you see a patch that’s coming up in your lane, that’s slippery and looks like it might be a little slippery just try and go a little easy over it.” Rick Hostetler who is used to driving in the white stuff said,”it’s slippery even for an experienced driver, so you just got to be careful.”

J.R. Scappini added, “it’s a little slippery. You better be careful out there. It is definitely going to get slicker as the day gets a little lighter.” Green said, “just take your time. You go too fast and you will forget to slow down because you feel like the road is good so you come to a stop sign or stop light and you are not thinking about slowing down before you get there – before you know it you go to put your breaks on and you can slide right through it an hit somebody.”
