FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.– A Fort Bragg soldier who was trying to surprise his wife with breakfast wound up shot in the chest Friday morning.
Police say after 28-year-old Fort Bragg soldier Zia Segule left for work, his wife went back to sleep. Around 10:15 a.m., the husband came back home to surprise his wife. Police say when he came into the house, the home alarm went off. His wife grabbed a gun and fired through the bedroom door, hitting Segule in the chest.
Amazingly, Segule was able to walk and talk after being shot. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his wound and released. His only comment to the media was, “I’m good.”
Segule’s wife, Tiffany, was taken to the Fayetteville Police Department for questioning. Police say she may have been on edge because of a recent string of home break-ins in the neighborhood over the past two weeks.
