NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – Are you tired of eating the same old thing for breakfast, morning after morning? If so, you’re not alone. But there are ways to freshen up your breakfast in the New Year.
Food Expert Barb Scala joined us on Good Morning Connecticut to help you start a new ritual. Scala is known for her event planning and cooking events.
You should start off the New Year and each morning with the most important meal of the day: breakfast! Make a new ritual of kicking off the day with a green smoothie delivering a jolt of fresh and alive ingredients to your system made with kale and anti- inflammatory roots like ginger and turmeric.
Instead of the regular home fries, serve farm-fresh eggs with a colorful side of seasonal root veggie hash loaded with sweet and savory flavors.
For cold mornings, no need to open a box when you can easily make homemade Muesli. You should add shredded coconut, dried cranberries, walnuts and cinnamon served it with warm with non-dairy almond milk.
For those mornings when you have a crowd to feed use a fresh fruit compote made with seasonal quince, apple and local maple syrup tops off a stack of gluten-free buckwheat flap jacks.
