CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) — What types of businesses draw the most complaints from Connecticut consumers? According to Connecticut Better Business Bureau, the answers shouldn’t be too surprising.
Each year, the Connecticut BBB surveys consumers across the state to determine both positive and negative experiences with local businesses. While the agency reports that the overall number of complaints is down for 2014 compared to the previous year, the statistics reveal that many of the same types of businesses continue to leave consumers dissatisfied one year after another.
Communications services and their products top the list of most complained-about types of businesses.
“Given our reliance on wireless, internet and entertainment services, it is not surprising that these industries are atop the list of complaint statistics,” said Connecticut Better Business Bureau Executive Communications Director, Howard Schwartz.
Car dealers and car servicing came in second, while collection agencies, internet vendors, retail furniture stores, banks, and auto repair shops all received high complaint numbers.
“The most popular consumer items and services receive the most complaints,” Schwartz said.
