Drunk Driving Arrest in Windsor

WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) – A scary ride for drivers early Saturday morning after a driver reportedly started driving on the wrong side of the road while traveling down Palisado Avenue.

Police say they got a call from a driver who almost collided head-on with the car just after midnight.

Windsor Police officers found the car and pulled it over.  They say 26-year-old Eddy Feliz-Ayala of New Britain looked to be on some type of drug or alcohol.  They say he refused to get out of his car to perform a sobriety test. That’s when cops say Feliz-Ayala drove off northbound into Windsor Locks.

Windsor Locks joined the pursuit and say Feliz-Ayala was driving erratically, going into the wrong lane of traffic and swerving all over the road.

While cops were trying to pull him over again,  they say Feliz-Ayala hit two Windsor Police cruisers and nearly hit a Windsor cop who was out of his car on foot.   The cruisers had some minor damage.

Eventually with the efforts of Windsor, Windsor Locks and Suffield Police working together they stopped Feliz-Ayala on Route 75 at the Suffield town line near Windsor Locks.  He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated and was released.  He now faces charges of DWI, Assault on a Police Officer, and Reckless Driving to name a few.  He is due in court Monday.
