STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– A judge raised bail for a former Stamford teacher who was arrested for a second time, accused of threatening the high school student she had sex with.
Thirty-two-year-old Danielle Watkins already pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault charges and risk of injury to a minor in December. She had sex with one Stamford High School student, and provided him and another student with marijuana.
Watkins was arrested again Friday after the boy and his mother say they ran across her in a coffee shop. Police say she told the boy “I’m coming for you.”
“It was a very, very snowy Friday morning. The easiest way for her to get her morning coffee was to stop at that Dunkin’ Donuts,” said Watkins’ attorney, Rob Serafinowicz. “It might not have been a wise decision, but that’s what happened. There was no intentional meeting, it really was a chance encounter. It really was an isolated incident.”
Monday, a judge raised her bond to $150,000. She is still locked up.
Her lawyer says that until now Watkins has been a quote “angel,” and that she had a doctor’s appointment near the coffee shop.
