PD: Bristol man attacks victim w/ sledge hammer

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH)– A Bristol man was arrested for assaulting another man with a sledge hammer and a patio block at his home on Sunday.

Police say just before 7 p.m., officers responded to 79 Tulip Street for a domestic disturbance that left three people injured.

It was then revealed that 53-year-old David Buchelli had assaulted two family members, and that when a 47-year-old man visiting the home attempted to intervene, Buchelli assaulted him with a sledge hammer and a patio block.

The victim suffered severe facial injuries. He was transported to Bristol Hospital by ambulance.

Buchelli was charged with assault, criminal mischief, breach of peace and refusal to be fingerprinted. He also did about $3,000 worth of damage to a vehicle while at the home.

Buchelli was held on $100,000 and will appear in court Monday.
