WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)– West Hartford police say they responded to a domestic violence report of a “father trying to stab the mother” around noon Sunday.
According to police, 74-year-old Bajran Skenderi got into an argument with his wife over how he raised his adult children, and repeatedly tried to stab her. Police say when they arrived at the Walden Street home, Skenderi had been restrained and no longer had the knife. They say the victim’s son-in-law heard her screams and restrained his father-in-law.
The victim sustained defensive knife wounds to her hands and was taken to Hartford Hospital after experiencing chest pains, police say.
Skenderi cut his head after hitting it against the wall during the struggle, according to police. They say he was taken to John Dempsey Hospital, and charges against him are pending.
Police say Skenderi and his wife live in Kosovo and are in the country visiting their daughter and her family in West Hartford.
