Police in Bristol search for answers in deadly crash

BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) – One person is dead when a car crashed into a tree and went up in flames in Bristol.

Part of Stafford Avenue was shut down. Police and bystanders attempted to rescue the driver but the car was too hot. Firefighters were able to put out the fire.

Gasoline had leaked from the vehicle and entered a nearby storm drain. Officials determined there was no danger to the immediate neighborhood.

Bristol Police Department is working with the Farmington Medical Examiners Office to identify the driver.  If you have information about this crash you should contact the Bristol Police Department Traffic Division at (860) 584-3030.
