Congressman Himes Works on Expanding Access to Early Education

Washington, DC (WTNH) – Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) wants to expand access to early education programs. Himes has reintroduced two bills, The Total Learning Act and The Supporting Early Learning Act.

The Total Learning Act gives assistance to community partnerships that implement advanced early learning programs. The Supporting Early Learning Act sets up competitive grant programs to assist states in implementing or improving early learning programs especially for children in low-income areas.

According to Himes, research shows public investment in early childhood education has significant social and economic benefits particularly for low-income children.
