Manchester man charged with terrorism over alleged threat

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — A 28-year-old Manchester man has been arrested on charges of threatening and terrorism on accusations he phoned in a bomb threat to Mohegan Sun casino, using the name of The Islamic State group.

The Day of New London reports that Mohegan Tribal Police arrested Gary L. Kalinsky last week in connection with a call Nov. 18 to an unlisted number for lost items.

An arrest warrant says the caller claims he is the front of IS and a lost briefcase contained a bomb and could explode in minutes. No briefcase was found.

Police identified Kalinsky’s number because he called a day or two earlier to report a missing jacket. Police say he denied making a threatening call.

He’s represented by a public defender and is due to appear Jan. 28 in Norwich Superior Court.
