NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a car fire on I-95 this afternoon at 3pm.

As firefighters arrived on scene, they saw a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria was fully involved in fire. Officials said the lone driver was of Darien Taxi, and that he was making his way back to Darien after picking up the car from being repaired when he noticed flames near his feet.

The driver was able to pull over to the shoulder, a half mile prior to exit 13 southbound, and safely exited the car.

The fire department said traffic on I-95 was reduced to 2 lanes for 25 minutes, until the car was towed from the scene. Fire Inspector Luca Feola is investigating the cause of the fire.
