PASCO COUNTY, FL (WTNH)– A daycare worker was caught on camera kicking a child in the head and backside while she was sleeping.
WFLA reports that on Saturday, the15-month-old girl’s mother dropped her off, free of injuries, at the Kids Stop and Play Daycare, under the care of 49-year-old Linda Klem, of Tarpon Springs. When the girl’s mother picked her up a few hours later, she noticed an abrasion under her eye and on the side of her face.
Police then reviewed the surveillance video and saw Klem intentionally kicking the little girl while she slept on the floor. The video then shows the girl waking up and crying. Later the toddler goes back to sleep, when Klem kicks here again, this time forcefully on the backside.
Police say Klem denied kicking the child in the head and gave no explanation for kicking her in the backside.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco told WFLA that “the mother did what was right. She was adamant that something had occurred. She went back to the location from there she went to the hospital.”
The owner of the daycare said she never expected Klem to have any problems and that she has worked there for four years.
Klem was charged with child abuse and has since been released on $5,000 bond.
