Armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant in New London

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) – A man was arrested for an armed robbery at Golden Wok Chinese Restaurant in New London Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to a 911 phone call about an armed robbery at the Golden Wok Chinese Restaurant at 353 Colman Street just after 4:30 p.m.

When police were driving to the scene the description of the car involved in the robbery was broadcast to the responding police officers. The car was described as a small red SUV.

Officers saw a SUV that matched the description at Hodges Square and officers soon lost sight. After police searched the area for the car it was found shortly after was found with no one inside on Terrance Avenue.

The search led officers to 10 Terrance Avenue and a search of the home and car, police found incriminating evidence.

James Genua, 36, of New London was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Tampering with Evidence, Threatening 2nd Degree, Risk of Injury to a minor and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Genua is being held on a $150,000 bond.
