Power back on for many, AAA calls below average

(WTNH)– Power is back on for hundreds of people this morning. With those tricky weather conditions yesterday came several power outages around the state.

Snow was falling heaviest early on areas like Branford and Greenwich had over a thousand power outages combined around 7 a.m.

Middletown, Windham, and several other towns had hundreds without power as well.

Slippery roads also kept drivers at home Saturday. Despite difficult conditions, emergency road service calls were well below average.

AAA is saying that most people stayed off the roads. They responded to a little more than 560 calls in the Greater Hartford and eastern Connecticut areas.

Hartford city officials announced a parking ban for most of Saturday but not everyone followed it. Police issued more than 450 tickets. Roughly 100 vehicles were towed.

Clean up crews needed cars off the roads in order to clear the snow. That parking ban has since been lifted.
