LANSDOWNE, Md. (AP) — One of four boys who fell into an icy Maryland pond outside Baltimore over the weekend has died.

Baltimore County police said Tuesday that 13-year-old Kyron Aikens died while being treated in a local hospital.

County police say the boys, ages 8 to 13, fell through ice into a pond Sunday afternoon near Lansdowne High School. Bystanders pulled a 12-year-old boy from the water, and two other boys made it to the shore on their own.

But Kyron was in the water for more than an hour before a county rescue team was able to pull him from the pond.

The boy saved by bystanders, 12-year-old Omar Benjamin, remains in serious condition Tuesday at the pediatric intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The other two boys were released from the hospital Monday.
