How to Take Care of Your Clothes

(WTNH)– Blogger/Lifestyle Expert Shaunya Hartley teaches us How to Take Care of Your Clothes.

She gives us key tips and some pantry items that will help make your clothes last.

-Remove pilling from your favorite sweater with a disposable razor
-Don’t pull the pilling; lightly shave your sweater by laying it down on a flat surface and lightly going over the sweater with the disposable razor blade.
-Keep Moths away from your wools: Moth balls are not the best scent but did you know that lavender is a major insect repellant especially moths. So you can purchase lavender oil online and cover an old piece of cotton and place in your closet as well as your dresser.
-Learn what to hang and what to fold
-Have great hangers- wooden, velvet help coats and blazers keep their shape.
-Baby Shampoo for your delicate items
-Your washer can be very harsh on your delicate such as lingerie, cashmere and silks. Use a combination of Baby shampoo and lukewarm water and hand wash followed by lying clothes flat to air dry.
-Keep your designer denim dark by not washing that frequently; turn the denim inside out and all a cup of vinegar to your wash.
-Odor Removal from vintage clothes: Mixture of one part vodka, two parts water and hang drying
-Keep angora, mohair from shedding: place it in a Ziploc bag and place in the freezer for about 3 hours. You won’t shed.
– Workout clothes: Rinse immediately after your workout, also wash separately and throw in a cup of baking soda as an odor eater. Hang dry to keep the elasticity in the clothes.
