TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Fire crews had to battle winter weather while responding to a fire at a condominium complex on Essex Court early Monday morning.

Just before 2:30 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the condo complex located at 601 Essex Court on reports on a fire in the building. Firefighters said they could see the flames coming out of the building as they arrived at the scene.

Fire crews said the snow and slick conditions made their response time to the scene more challenging as well as battling the fire itself. Residents were able to get out of the complex safely. No injuries were reported.

According to officials, the fire began in the end unit of the complex. Firefighters said the end unit is expected to be deemed a total loss. The neighboring unit sustained fire damage, but officials said they believe the unit will be repairable.

Four other units also sustained damage, but the extent of the damage to those units was not released. The Torrington Fire Marshal’s office has started their investigation. It is unclear what may have caused the fire.
