HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Jury selection for the retrial of a reputed Hartford gang leader charged in a drive-by killing and five other slayings is scheduled to start.
A prosecutor and defense lawyer were scheduled to begin picking jurors Monday in Hartford Superior Court for the case of 29-year-old Donald Raynor. His first trial for the drive-by shooting ended with a hung jury in September.
Hartford police allege Raynor led the unusually violent Money Green/Bedroc gang in the North End.
Raynor is going on trial again on charges of accessory to murder and conspiracy for the drive-by shooting that killed alleged rival gang member Delano Gray in June 2007.
Raynor’s lawyer disputes all the allegations and says Raynor shouldn’t face trial again because the state failed to prove its case the first time.
