Newington Police investigating two weekend robberies

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH)-  The Newington Police Department responded to two reports of armed robberies at local businesses over the weekend.

On 02/07/2015 at approximately 9:14pm police went to the Family Dollar on 733 New Britain Avenue for a robbery that had just occurred.  The clerk had been robbed at gunpoint by a white male with blonde colored hair, wearing a long grey or tan coat, baseball cap, and ski mask with a black colored handgun.  The suspect got an undisclosed amount of money and was seen leaving the area in a dark colored sedan.

On 02/08/2015 at approximately 6:18pm officers went to an armed robbery at Target, located at 3265 Berlin Turnpike.  The suspect is a white male, possibly in his early 50’s, with long white/light brown hair, full mustache and slight beard.  The suspect was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans, with a baseball cap under the hood of the sweatshirt.  A handgun was displayed.  The suspect got an undisclosed amount of money before exiting the store and was last seen getting into a dark colored mid-size sedan.
