Untreated, icy roads make for slick driving conditions

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)–The snow and ice are making for some slick driving conditions, resulting in a few accidents around the state.

Depending on where you are in the state, the road conditions are very different. The roads that have been treated aren’t too bad but if they haven’t been, the coating of ice and snow left them very slippery.

Icy conditions are believed to be the cause of a serious accident that closed I-95 Southbound between Exits 39A and 38. Police say there are no major injuries.

In West Haven, an SUV lost control because of the ice and took out a home’s front porch at 225 Washington Avenue. Police say there were no injuries and the home is safe. The car did suffer damage.

Drivers are cautioned to go slow because even if you don’t see much snow on the road, there still could be ice.

News 8’s Kent Pierce was in West Haven where the car crashed into the building and Meteorologist Sam Kantrow was in the mobile weather lab where they both gave us a look at what’s happening out on those slick road.
