Man arrested for hitting child in parking lot

Shaun Williams was arrested after hitting a child in a parking lot in Orange.

Orange, Conn. (WTNH)– A New Haven man was arrested after hitting a child multiple times in a parking lot in Orange last week.

Police say 31 year old Shaun Williams was seen hitting a three year old multiple times after an incident that began inside the Target store in Orange.

When witnesses tried to stop Williams from hitting the child, he began to argue with them, according to police. A witness got Williams’ car information and called police to report the incident. An investigation led to an arrest warrant for Williams, who was arrested February 6.

Williams was charged with assault, breach of peace, and risk of injury to a minor.
