Killingly man arrested for heroin and children in car

KILLINGLY – Conn. (WTNH) – A Killingly man is arrested after police found heroin and children in his car during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a car on Thursday at 4:20 pm on Route 101 for expired registration. Police were given consent to search the car and they located 5 baggies of crack cocaine and 4 baggies of powder cocaine pre-packaged for sale and $873.00 cash.

Xavier Maldonado, 83, Killingly was arrested without incident and taken to Danielson Barracks. Two children under the age of three were in the car and Troopers kept the children safe until a responsible family member arrived on scene and took custody of the children.

Maldonado was charged with Possession of cocaine, Possession of cocaine to sell, 2 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor and being held on $25,000 dollar cash/surety bond.

Maldonado is expected to appear in Danielson Superior Court on March 5th, 2015.
