Boston, Mass. (WTNH) – A Connecticut man has been found guilty in Massachusetts for using the internet to lure a minor for sex.
57 year old Paul Hinkel of Chester was convicted in federal court in Boston after traveling to Watertown, Massachusetts in March with the intention of having sex with someone he thought was a 15 year old girl but in reality was a federal agent.
According to prosecutors, Hinkel replied to a Craigslist from a woman looking for a man who would be interested in having a relationship with her daughter but the ad was actually placed by Homeland Security Agents. When he arrived he had a stuffed animal, sexual paraphernalia and cologne.
Hinkel faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled in May.
