Police make arrest in bank robbery

EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police made short work solving a bank robbery in East Lyme. It happened the morning of February 14. A man walked into the Citizens Bank on Chesterfield Road and showed a handgun.

He hid his face while yelling orders at employees and customers and got away with a large amount of money. Within 24 hours police were able to identify their suspect as Shawn Twomey, 41, of Norwich. Twomey was found in New York and arrested by State Police there.

Twomey is being held on $500,000 bond, he’s being charged with multiple crimes including robbery, assault, and threatening.
